Prioritizing for Profit is a prioritization process that leverages collaborative methods to help product management professionals make thoughtful and logical product strategy decisions that align development goals and objectives with business value and profits.

Because business value and profit can be perceived and achieved through many different ways, product managers should first develop a deeper understanding of the many dimensions that often come into play including stakeholder preferences, alignment to corporate strategy and profit drivers.

Engagement Model and Deliverables

Prioritizing for profit is a 5 step process.

  • Planning and design. You would work with someone from the Innovation Games® team to jointly identify your goals, current situation and create an execution plan that may include in-person collaboration sessions as well as the use of our online tools.
  • Define. An ideal way to determine what the correct dimensions are and to get internal stakeholder preferences is to use the in-person version of 20/20 Vision to rank-order the attributes within each dimension or category.
  • Prioritization. Using Buy a Feature online we gather direct feedback from a larger number of customers or other stakeholders.
  • Validation. Before moving forward we would review the results with the appropriate stakeholders as a way to get a final confirmation that both the results and process we acceptable
  • Deliver and close. We create and deliver a summary of the results and potentially other recommendations.

As result we deliver a product development plan that is aligned with corporate goals, profit drivers and has been created with a high level of visibility and stakeholder engagement.
